Earlier this month, Charlie was once again proud to take his usual place on the rostrum at the word-renowned Amelia Island auction for Gooding & Company, which proved to be one for the record books.

The auction realised an incredible $69.2 million (plus change!) in rare car sales, making it the most successful Amelia Island auction to date over its 13 year history. That included the sale of 20 of the 99 lots on offer selling for over $1 million.

The most significant sale of the week was a 1937 Talbot-Lago T150-C-SS Teardrop Coupe, which sold for an astounding $13.4 million, setting a new world record for the Talbot-Lago marque at auction.

The sale of a 1967 Toyota-Shelby 2000 GT also made global headlines when it sold for over $2.5 million, simultaneously setting the world records for both the most valuable Japanese car ever purchased at public auction, and the most valuable Toyota sold at auction.
